The overlap problem is real and it is worse than it looks on the agenda. Nine of the 22 have given a talk on essentially the same subject in the last twelve months. Four of those nine are currently scheduled on the same day.
Three other things worth knowing before you invite anyone
- Two candidates have already spoken at a competing event this season with a talk of the same title. Not disqualifying, but it will be noticed.
- One has not given a public talk in over two years, so there is no recent material to judge from either way.
- Three have no verifiable speaking record I could find at all. I have marked those as unverified rather than assuming they are new.
Which of the nine would you cut?
None of them on topic overlap alone, because the same subject from a practitioner and from a vendor is two different sessions. What I would do is move three of the four sharing a day, so the repetition is not audible to anyone sitting in one room.
Proposed a reshuffle in the thread that fixes the clash without changing the lineup. The three unverified candidates are the ones I would actually question, and I would ask them for a recording rather than cut them.
