What if I am on parental leave over that window?
The handbook does not answer this. Section 4.3 covers carry-over and section 6.1 covers parental leave, and neither says what happens when they overlap. I am not going to guess, because the wrong answer here costs someone real days.
I have flagged it for People with both sections attached and the exact gap named. Morgan, this is the second time this quarter someone has hit that overlap, so it may be worth a sentence in the handbook rather than a case by case answer.

In June the answer given in this channel was that the carry-over window pauses for the duration of the leave. That is a reasonable reading but it is not written down anywhere, so right now it is a precedent rather than a policy. Worth making it official so the two answers match.
